Diagnosis: Sooty Mold on Tomato

Recommendation

• Sooty molds thrive where sap feeding insects are actively feeding and secreting honeydew.
• Manage sap sucking insects mostly aphids and white flies to effectively manage sooty mold.
• Use traps to control insect pests.
• Moderate use of fertilizers, because over-fertilization can attract certain sap-sucking insects.
• Crop rotation and sanitation
• Keep the land weed free
• Refer the PCPB list for registered chemicals against sooty mold.
